Four passengers were injured when high speed catamaran Sea Jet 2 collided with the pier while it was docking at the port of the island of Sifnos in central Aegean Sea.
The accident occurred on Wednesday morning when Sea Jet 2 was trying to dock. The ship suffered material damage on the right hull bow.

Authorities have forbidden that the ship sets sail in order to complete its journey.
The causes of the accident are not known, however, “it is likely it happened due to the strong winds blowing in the area,” cyclades24.gr speculates.
Sea Jet 2 was operating on the route Piraeus-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos-Folegandros-Santorini-Koufonissi-Naxos-Mykonos-Santorini-Folegandros-Milos-Sifnos-Serifos-Piraeus.
It had on board 196 passengers and 12 crew members. The injured went to the local Heath Center. The remaining 194 disembarked in safety.

Passengers traveling to other islands are expected to continue their journey with responsibility of the shipowner of Sea Jet 2.
